How many types of dangerous goods are there?

There are 9 classes of dangerous goods as outlined in the Australian Dangerous Goods Code. Dangerous goods are classed according to their physical and chemical properties — and the risks that they present. Classes range from Class 1 Explosives to Class 9 Miscellaneous Dangerous Substances and Articles.
